Memories of Colour

Explore a giant ocean world

Memories of Colour is an immersive installation that invites visitors to wander amongst a giant ocean world. Giant corals and sea slugs in curious positions bring nature, wonder and whimsy to unexpected places.

Coral reefs are changing, everywhere. Across the globe, ocean temperatures rise, corals lose the algae that give them their colour and energy, and entire reef ecosystems struggle to survive. Climate change is transforming our oceans, which will affect every facet of life across the globe. Memories of Colour hints at the loss of colour from our oceans and that the vibrant colours of our reefs may be just memories if we don't take action.

We are so honoured to be able to live and learn on the beautiful unceded, ancestral, and occupied, traditional lands of the Skwxwú7mesh (Squamish) Nation. Every day we take a moment to put our hands on this earth, and be mindful about what this means and the generational trauma that has come and will continue to come with society's choices. Every day we strive to work with others to be stewards of this incredible land and to acknowledge and hold space for those who came before, and we welcome opportunities to do more and to do better.
