May 28, 2023, 10:00 a.m. – May 29, 2023, 12:30 p.m.

Location is TBD (Squamish)

We are excited to host a wilderness workshop with special guest, Siyamken (Matthew Williams). Matthew will teach us the traditional First Nation game of double ball, similar to lacrosse and played with sticks and ball with a leather thong. The game is played as a team sport, and between partners to solve arguments, rather than bottling up frustrations. Let yours out on your friends and the group! Just kidding, we will be playing gently and all ages are welcome! We will have a short snack and tea break, then Matthew will lead us on a plant walk in the wilds of Squamish. Learn about plants and their traditional uses, medicinal properties, and which are edible and which aren't. Look around at our beautiful wild with new eyes, hearing stories, and learning about our beautiful ecosystem.

This event is open to anyone and everyone. Please let us know if you have any dietary requirements, or need any additional supports to participate. Come alone, bring friends or family, our workshops are always fun and inclusive.

We are so honoured to be able to live and learn on the beautiful unceded, ancestral, and occupied, traditional lands of the Skwxwú7mesh (Squamish) Nation. Every day we take a moment to put our hands on this earth, and be mindful about what this means and the generational trauma that has come and will continue to come with society's choices. Every day we strive to work with others to be stewards of this incredible land and to acknowledge and hold space for those who came before, and we welcome opportunities to do more and to do better.
