Details

Nov 20, 2022, 10:00 a.m. – 11:30 a.m.

Location will be sent 1 day in advance

Join The Wilder and guest facilitator, Indigenous mushroom forager Key-le-la Harry for an introductory mushroom walk in the wilds of Squamish. Learn about local habitats, the different identifying features of common mushrooms and their favourite habitats, how to forage with care for the environment, and enjoy a delicious warm tea from Raven & Hummingbird Tea Co, Indigenous-owned teas. We will send the location prior to the workshop.

This workshop is family-friendly and kids are welcome, although please note we will be walking off-trail. Kids under 5 are free.

Please note that this year has seen the effects of climate change making mushrooms show up late, and with the nature of foraging, we cannot guarantee what we will find. The focus of this workshop will be on education, so you can learn to identify mushrooms and forage yourself during the spring and fall. What we do guarantee is that you will learn a lot about mushrooms and our beautiful ecosystems here in Squamish, and enjoy a delicious warm tea and fun company in the Squamish forest.
